Native Americans, since ancient times, have used astronomy to forecast the brightest stars emerging. In Wyoming and Canada, medicine wheels have been discovered in correlation with the rising of Aldebaran, Rigel, and Sirius. In the Central Plains, the Pawnee culture celebrated the Pleiades Cluster and believed the Pole star to be a guardian spirit, shining most luminously at night. Their villages were symmetrically organized with one corner devoted to the Evening Star.
