The Origin of Native American Code Talkers
It was during WWI that the US military considered using Native American men who were fluent in both English and their tribal language to send secret messages during battle. This resulted in numerous Native communications experts and messengers, most notably the Choctaw Telephone Squad, which was successfully deployed in France during the Great War.
